A Brick man who was charged last fall with arranging, through a prostitute, a meetup with a teenage girl for sex has been indicted by a grand jury in Monmouth County.

Richard Jones, the owner and broker of Century 21 Herbertsville Real Estate, was indicted Jan. 9, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. According to a copy of the indictment obtained by Brick Shorebeat, grand jurors indicted Jones on a single count of attempted sexual assault of a juvenile older than 13 but younger than 16.

Jones was arrested Sept. 26 in Asbury Park after attempting to use a local prostitute to facilitate a meeting to have sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl, authorities said at the time. Jones, officials said, arrived at an agreed-upon location where he was met by police, after pre-arranging to meet with the 14-year-old girl, who was actually an undercover police officer.
