The body of a man was found Friday morning in the waters of Brick Creek near Brandywine Court, off Van Zile Road, authorities have confirmed to Shorebeat.

Police received a call from a resident at 7:33 a.m. Friday from a resident of the street, stating there appeared to be a body lying face down in the creek, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.

The body was determined to be that of Mark Rogich, 54, of Brick.

A large police response was seen by local residents all morning near the Burnt Tavern Manor area, and Della Fave said the scene at the lake was immediate cordoned off so an investigation could be conducted.

“At this time there is nothing to indicate that the finding presents any danger to area residents,” said Della Fave.

Investigators do not believe the death was suspicious and there were no outward signs of foul play, Della Fave said. The Ocean County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death.
