Detectives have charged a Lakewood man with child endangerment stemming from an alleged incident where the man engaged in sexual conduct with a 6-year-old girl.
Carl A. Creadle, 47, is charged with second degree endangering the welfare of a child, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office. Creadle was arrested at about 3 a.m. Sunday by Lakewood Police Officer Edgardo Vega Jr. and Ocean County Prosecutor Special Victims Unit Det. Jason Steele.
Creadle was arrested following an investigation that began after the alleged sexual conduct was witnessed by an individual who was residing in the victim’s home. That person then notified the victim’s parents. Creadle knew the victim in the case, authorities said.
Creadle was being held in the Ocean County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail set by Superior Court Judge James Blaney. According to jail records, he is also facing charges of contempt of court, hindering his own apprehension and loitering to obtain or distribute drugs.
Assisting with the investigation were Det. Sgt. Greg Staffordsmith and Det. Eric Cicerello of the Lakewood Police Department, Det. Sgt. Jamie Phillips and Stephen Capoano of the Ocean County Sheriff’s CSI Unit, and Det. Stephanie Bayha of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
