Francisco “Paco” Sastre, of Brick, has won the 123 pound sub-novice division state championship with a split decision victory over Manuel Castillo of Global Boxing Gym.
Before a packed house in Jersey City’s Pershing Field Ice Rink, the Brick PAL boxer was the aggressor throughout the fight, boxing observers say. Mixing his jab with a potent left hook, Satre was able to outpoint his opponent on the way to victory.
Sastre in now 4-0 in his amateur career and will be moving up to the Novice class in future fights.
