New exit ramps to major roads in Brick from both directions of the Garden State Parkway open this week.

Exit 89 will provide access to Route 70 and Cedar Bridge Avenue directly from the highway, the New Jersey Turnpike Authority announced.

The new ramps at exit 89 include:

  • Northbound Exit 89 A – Access from the northbound Garden State Parkway to Route 70.
  • Northbound Exit 89 B – Access from the northbound Garden State Parkway to Cedar Bridge Road (County Route 528).
  • Southbound Exit 89 A – Access from the southbound Garden State Parkway to Route 70 westbound.

The improved access to Cedar Bridge Road and Route 70 involved the construction of two service roads along the northbound and southbound lanes of the Parkway, the authority said in its announcement. Drivers now exit the Parkway onto the service roads and then use exits 89 A, B or C to access the local roads.

The reconfigured interchange provides exits to Route 70 and Cedar Bridge Road from the northbound Parkway that did not exist before. Southbound Parkway drivers used to be able to access Route 70 at Exit 88, but that exit designation was retired last year. Access to Route 70 from both directions is now provided through interchange 89.

Two other new ramps at Interchange 89 opened last year: Southbound Exit 89 B provides access to Route 70 eastbound from the southbound Garden State Parkway, and southbound Exit 89 C provides access from the southbound Garden State Parkway to Cedar Bridge Road via Airport Road.

Exit 89B provides access to both west and eastbound route 70. As of this past Sunday there still was no exit A.

89B southbound is 70 West, 89A will be 70 East.
Wonder when 89C entrance to GSP South will open, and will there be an 89A entrance from 70 Westbound to GSP South?

      • 70 WB to GSP South is built, but not open. GSP SB from 70 EB is also not open yet.

Discovered that yesterday afternoon. Wonder if that traffic light on 70 will go away once all of the ramps are open.

      • I would imagine so. Both 70 east and west are going to be merge lanes. 70 east is now using a merge lane on the other side of the highway.

Publish a map to make it all understandable!

can you give us a clear over view map of what it will look like..?”

Should have built full service entry and exits on Herbertsville road.

I agree, Jon. A lot of commuters use Herbertsville road to cut through Allenwood to get to parkway north via route 34. They use the Manasquan river bridge near Brice park or the one on Hospital road. Country roads that were great for bicycle rides are now death traps. Especially the road past Brice park. Lots of bends and no shoulders.

Not to mention Church St. in Toms River for the Silverton area residents.

To cut an exit on Herbertsville would have been easy it looks.

So driving North on the GSP and exiting to 70 East looks like a left turn at the Home Depot light. That light is already a three way light bottleneck, now made worse. Guess I’ll just continue up to 89C and exit at the new three way light there.
Have you got a pic of the new exit 91?
