Brick police were able to locate a juvenile who displayed a knife during an incident involving two groups of people in Herbertsville Park (formerly known as Colorado Park).

The incident, during which officers were called to a reported assault, occurred Sunday at 2:21 p.m., according to Sgt. Neal Pedersen.

Officers Mark Storch and Jennifer Larocca located the combatants at the park and were able to determine that a juvenile male from Sawmill Road had displayed a weapon, later identified as a knife, during the encounter, Pedersen said.

The altercation took place in the park between two groups of people, Pedersen said, at which time the 14-year-old juvenile male pulled the knife on a 15-year-old female.

“It was reported to officers that this was an ongoing dispute stemming from earlier interactions that took place a day earlier,” Pedersen said.

Officers were able to locate the juvenile suspect and the weapon that is described as a folding knife.

The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.  No injuries were reported during this incident.  The name of the juvenile and an arrest photo were not released due to his age.

The juvenile was released to his parents on juvenile complaints, police said.  Anyone with additional information about the incident is being asked to contact Detective Ken Steinberg at 732-262-1113.

Wow glad the security cameras are working …oh wait there not installed like sign stated when being built and campaigning…This is going to get worse with warmer weather on the way…

The cops are patrolling over there all the time. I do my daily constitutional there most evenings and never fail to see them.

      • Smokin

Glad your walking around ..and yes the police are there daily but can’t be there all the time..and that’s why the cameras could help but will never stop the problems..

Sure hope you’re just taking a walk and not going to the bathroom at the park when you use the term “daily constitutional” 😉 The term harkens back to when people had to take a walk to the outhouse to move their bowels…

Speaking of that… I do wish they’d have installed public bathrooms in Colorado Park after the fixer upper. Maybe best they didn’t- it would just attract tree jumpers anyway…

Lets take a poll on how many 14 year old boys have, or had, a folding knife. Rather lets be happy that the 14 year old assailant is still alive. Because usually when cops roll up on a 14 year old with a knife, they just shoot them. Well at least thats whats been happening in other places around the USA.

I know you posted your inane comment a few moths ago, but I just clicked on this story and had to laugh at how remarkably stupid you must be to buy into the lies of the Black Lives Movement… There are over 900,000 police officers making countless stops and interactions daily without incident. You just spout nonsense regarding less than 1% of the entire law enforcement community and many of the shootings are justified; you have an agenda and nothing else.

1 unarmed dead victim at the hands of an officer is too many. BTW, if you want to discuss the topic, I’ll have to request you do so like an educated adult. I won’t respond to childish name calling.

      • Jerry Belle

You already responded….smh. Of course one unarmed dead victim is too many, but the job does attract a few bad apples but you go on with your agenda attempting to make each and every one of those 900,000 officers look like murderers although they aren’t; it’s a very adult thing you do….

Just a matter of time before the kids destroy the new park. I remember more kids than not carried a good old Swiss army knife, or a small pocket knife at that age and younger. Don’t recall anyone ever pulling a knife on another kid or anyone else for that matter. We had parents that actually gave a damn. We actually respected them, as well as teachers, and behaved. What a novel concept! Ahh, the good old days. Yes, let’s be happy that the 14yr old assailant is still alive….good thing he was released to his parents…I’m sure he’s learned his lesson and will become a fine upstanding citizen. Are we all in shock that he resides on Sawmill Road? Unbelievable, who would have thought! Coincidence? I don’t think so…..Are we seeing the pattern with crime in Brick yet? “Because usually when cops roll up on a 14 year old with a knife, they just shoot them” Let’s take a look at that statement shall we….If the cops NEED to “roll up” on a 14yr old with a KNIFE because he’s threatening a 15yr old female, that should be your first clue that Jr. is putting himself in a position to get shot. If you obey the law, cops wouldn’t have a reason shoot you, mistakenly, or otherwise. I don’t recall reading about any police shootings of 14yr olds in Brick by the way, ever. This town is on a fast track to going to hell in a hand basket. If things aren’t nipped in the bud soon, we’ll be the new Camden. It’s a shame people don’t take pride in their town these days. It used to be a privilege to live here in such a tight knit community. You don’t find that anymore. Seems we have grown at such a rapid pace, Brick has gotten a little too big for its britches.
