The bicycle patrols started over the past two weekends in the Maple Leaf Park complex by the Brick Township police department are working quickly.
Officers deployed in the troubled condominium development made nine arrests, issued 72 summonses and impounded five vehicles, police said in a statement issued Friday. The arrests included charges of DUI, drug possession and warrants.
The officers also conducted over 90 citizen contacts, said Capt. Vincent Pacitti.
Recently, nine officers completed bicycle training and will begin being deployed to the Maple Leaf Complex on Saturday, April 30. Additional officers will attend bicycle training in the future, Pacitti said.
The patrols encompass the areas of Maple Park, southward to the Herbertsville Park recreation area.
