Lakewood Cops Seize 900 Decks of Heroin, Arrest 4 in Route 88 Apartment

A search of an apartment following a monthlong investigation into drug distribution led to the seizure of about 900 decks of heroin, quantities of other drugs, and the arrest of four suspects.

The raid on the apartment, located on Route 88, took place March 25 and was announced in a statement to the media Friday.



According to police, officers who came to serve the warrant at the apartment first safely quarantined a pit bull dog before making entry into the apartment. Inside the home, 30-year-old James Wallace and 29-year-old Jessie Wallace, both of Lakewood, 26-year-old Iman Benton, of Jackson, and 19-year-old Frankie Vasquez, of Whiting, were located by officers.

A search of the apartment yielded approximately 900 decks of heroin, approximately 10 grams of crack cocaine, marijuana and a number of prescription pills, police said.

James Wallace, who had over 800 of the decks of heroin, was charged with Possession of drugs, possession with the intent to distribute drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition to the drugs, approximately $1,300 in cash was seized for forfeiture. His bail for the offenses was $65,000 cash.

Jessie Wallace was charged with drug possession and released pending a court appearance. Benton and Vazquez were both charged with possession of marijuana and were released pending a court appearance.
