Point Pleasant Borough officials say a man escaped from his vehicle after driving it into the Point Pleasant Canal early Sunday morning.

The man, who has not been identified by police, apparently was able to leave the vehicle out through the sunroof after crashing through a guardrail and ending up in the waterway, which is notorious for its strong currents.
