Ocean County Freeholder Joseph Vicari said this week that, in the wake of the death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, the United States should demand the return of Joanne Chesimard, a convicted killer of a New Jersey State Police trooper who has been harbored in Cuba for decades.

He submitted the following letter to Shorebeat on Wednesday:

Dear Editor:

With the recent death of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, there has never been a better time for the United States government to demand the return of convicted cop killer JoAnne Chesimard.

Forty-three years after she executed a New Jersey State Trooper in cold blood, Chesimard remains free, a “guest” of Cuba’s totalitarian regime.

President Obama, while claiming he wanted to improve relations with Cuba, has made no effort to jail Chesimard. I now call on President-elect Donald Trump to insist that any further normalization of relations between our two nations must hinge on Chesimard’s immediate return.

In May 1973 Chesimard, the first woman to ever make the FBI’s Most wanted terrorists list, shot Trooper Werner Foerster in the head on the cold pavement of the New Jersey Turnpike. After escaping from prison in 1979, she surfaced in Cuba, where she is hailed as a revolutionary hero.

The message from law enforcement and from all law-abiding citizens is clear: no more talks with Cuba until Chesimard is brought home in chains.

Obama and many, many democrat US congress men and women and US Senators are friends with Chesimard the Trooper killer.
They have gone to Cuba and met with her, had dinner with her and are probably pen pals with her.
This is all fact that you can check out on Internet.
    Keep voting for those dems!

Except that’s a lie you made up.

In America, if you kill a cop you get lynched and have to flee. If a cop kills an innocent, unarmed black youth, they get a lifetime pension. This is why you people are deplorable scum. White supremacy is alive and well in this country.

      • Goodgrief

Dan why do you allow this racist to post?

      • Scott

Goodgrief, to me it is great to have people like JW post. It shows that for the few crazy idiotic white supremacist there are the might be as many or more on the other side. JW makes this point clear everyday. It is a wonderful learning experience for all of us.

      • Goodgrief

It certainly illustrates his contempt for the truth. However it is not good for Brick Shorebeat.

      • Scott

It is not good I agree but I think it is a small price to pay to have people with the views JW has expose what they reall believe

      • J W

Denying the existence of racism and white supremacy in this country is the problem, not me calling you people on it. No proof she shot him, no proof he pulled them over for anything but DWB which it certainly was, and the only reason she was in prison in the first place was because of a frame up by the Feds, which the Feds have in so many words admitted. This is our white power nation. Be proud of that and keep threatening people who shatter your delusions though

      • Scott

Thank you JW. Your reply is right in line to what we all expect from you. Thank goodness for your diligence on pointing out things that people don’t say.

Since Vicari is again actively touting bombing the USS Pueblo in the harbor of North Korea, and bringing Chesimard back from Cuba because Castro is now dead, one can reasonably assume its his turn to run for Freeholder reelection again. He’ll talk about anything and everything that doesn’t involve his longtime lack of leadership accomplishments other than collecting a pension for a job he is still serving in at full salary.
