A Brick man will spend the next 15 years behind bars for stabbing a woman six times, nearly killing her.
Christopher Dalzell, 61, was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Patricia B. Roe, to 15 years in anNew Jersey state prison on the charge of first degree attempted murder this week. Assistant Prosecutor Robert J. Cassidy prosecuted the case.
The sentencing stems from the March 29, 2015 stabbing investigation during which Dalzell was arrested. On that Sunday at approximately 9:53 p.m., a 911 call was received by the Brick Township Police Department in reference to a stabbing at a Cedar Bridge Avenue address.
Police arrived to find a female, 50 years of age, within the residence who had been stabbed multiple times in her chest and abdomen, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
The victim told officers that she knew the man who stabbed her, and he was still in the home. Responding officers immediately called for EMS and secured the scene.
A search of the residence located the suspect covered in blood in a bedroom. The subsequent investigation resulted in Dalzell’s arrest
The victim was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center in critical condition to be treated for over six stab wounds to her torso.
