A woman driving a Jeep home from the Brick Stop ‘N Shop supermarket was able to escape her vehicle before it became engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon.

“She said she saw smoke coming from under the hood, and then she saw flames coming from under the hood,” said Kevin Batzel, chief of the Brick Bureau of Fire Prevention.

The woman quickly pulled into the nearby Sunoco gas station and got out of the vehicle before the fire spread.

Batzel said workers at the Sunoco station activated a pump shutdown system immediately and called the fire department.

“Fortunately she didn’t pull close to the pumps,” Batzel said.

Firefighters from the Breton Woods and Pioneer Hose fire companies put an end to the blaze. The car was quickly towed out of the gas station parking lot, leaving a large burn mark. The station had reopened by 4:30 p.m.

The name of driver of the vehicle was not immediately available.

    • ttstorm69

yup thought the samething, even my 11 yr. old niece said yeah that seemed to be a smart thing to do why not….lol

      • Late Night Comedian

Tell your neice when she gets her license that if she ever sees steam or smoke coming from under her hood , that she should just keep driving until she gets to your house and you will take care of it for her.

      • avgjoe

why such anger & hate ltypical of a eftwinger?

    • Late Night Comedian

Where would you go ? Home?

    • Elkor

Should have stayed or retuned to the huge unoccupied parking lot she just left

      • Late Night Comedian

Right, she should have kept driving and went around 3 jughandles and traffic lights to return to the parking lot that she left a mile a way.

    • Late Night Comedian

Hey genius, the car repair service station is not in a residential area and her car was not ablaze.

      • Les Goldberg

That’s strange . I live in a large community down the road

      • Les Goldberg

Read the article it says she saw flames then pulled into the gas station which is right in front of an animal shelter

      • avgjoe

we can all see reading comprehension is not a LNC strong point ““She said she saw smoke coming from under the hood, and then she saw flames coming from under the hood,” said Kevin Batzel, chief of the Brick Bureau of Fire Prevention.”

  • JWWW

I hope the white bitch died!

    • Ranger7

      Read the article, idiot.

Someone needs to learn some manners and grow up…

We all think the same about you, don’t worry!

I understand you created that account to bring attention to some of the crazy things JWW writes but at some point here you’re doing more damage than good.

    • Late Night Comedian

      Who? Your mother?

    • Kathy Chontos Graham

Sad, sad hatred–Is that MY New Jersey? People panic. No need for hate-full words–glad she is okay

    • avgjoe

wow why all the hate from another LIEberal

  • Late Night Comedian

She stopped where could in time to be safe. What do you expect her to do? Keep driving until she gets to a car wash or a fire house? Her car was smoking so she pulled into a car repair shop.
    Glad she is okay.

    • Elkor

      Stay in the parking lot?
Not stop directly over huge tanks of flammable liquid?
It really dosent take a ton of brainpower you know.

      • Late Night Comedian

More brainpower than you have. The car wasnt smoking in the parking lot.
Did the car repair service station explode? No. So she did the right thing.

    • Joe Cogan

What do I expect her to do? Oh, maybe stop in the right lane or shoulder of the road, instead of pulling off it into a gigantic Molotov cocktail waiting to be ignited?

      • Late Night Comedian

The car wasnt engulfed like the picture when she pulled in to the repair shop.
The woman was probably scared and nervous and needed help from a repair man.

      • Spanky Chinaski

It’s not a “repair shop”, it’s a gas station. According to the station’s web site, “Available Services – Sunoco Fuel – Diesel Fuel”, so no repair services offered. “Scared and nervous and needed help from a repair man” – why are you defending that sad lady? She did a dumb thing and it’s lucky she didn’t burn down the whole neighborhood.

      • Late Night Comedian
      • avgjoe

ok its quiet obvious you have have no clue of the area or maybe youre the dumb broad. She could have pulled into Berry Fresh Farms just before the GAS station or gone past it & turned in the animal shelter or on shorrock rd

    • Les Goldberg

Why do you take this so personally?

      • Late Night Comedian

        Why do you?

  • Joe Cogan

What kind of an idiot sees a gas station and thinks “here’s where I should ditch my burning car!”?

    • Late Night Comedian

Someone who sees smoke coming from under their hood would pull into a car repair service station.
      Thats who.

      • avgjoe

again its obvious READING comprehension is not your strong point (but being a leftwing nut its no surprise) again read this very slowly or go upstairs & ask mommy to read it & explain it to you “She said she saw smoke coming from under the hood, and then she saw flames coming from under the hood,” said Kevin Batzel, chief of the Brick Bureau of Fire Prevention.

      • Late Night Comedian

Im at your mommys house and she is about to give me another rub down. She is the best. She likes that I satisfy her since your gay father never could.

      • avgjoe

oh man great 4th grade comeback. .. about 3 years ahead of your IQ, Maybe you were he woman driving a flaming car into a gas station

  • Don

She just pulled into the gas station over the in ground tanks
