Brick’s public works crews will begin the township’s annual fall collection effort next week – and as usual, officials are reminding residents not to blow leaves into the street, as Brick does not own vacuum trucks.

Brick will begin collecting bagged leaves Oct. 23. The entire schedule is as follows:

  • If your recycling day is FRIDAY, your collection weeks begin OCTOBER 23 and NOVEMBER 27
  • If your recycling day is MONDAY, your collection weeks begin OCTOBER 30 and DECEMBER 4
  • If your recycling day is TUESDAY, your collection weeks begin NOVEMBER 6 and DECEMBER 11
  • If your recycling day is WEDNESDAY, your collection weeks begin NOVEMBER 13 and DECEMBER 18
  • If your recycling day is THURSDAY, your collection weeks begin NOVEMBER 20 and DECEMBER 26.

Brick does not utilize vacuum trucks to collect leaves, meaning leaves blown into the street will not be collected. They have also been known to cause sewers to clog, officials have said. It is against township ordinance to blow leaves into the street and those who do may be subject to a fine.

Think it time Brick DID own vacuume trucks! The bagging is inefficient and unsightly.

Agreed! I’m sure Mayor Ducey could find the funds in his budget if he wanted to. Think how much easier the fall season would be without bagging leaves every week-end. Most towns do provide this service to their citizens.

The township should hit some of the landscapers that blow the leaves on to the streets.

And our leaves haven’t started to fall.

I’ve had to bag mine twice already, including the acorns. A vacuum truck would be wonderful.

The electric vacuum/blower from Harbor Freight is cheap and saves tons of time.

How about a vacuum co-op between towns? One uses them during the day and the renter can use them over night.

Run a vacuum truck at night? Are you serious?

      • Goodgrief

lol, I would not know how to run one in the daytime.

    Vacuum trucks suck!
