Investigators are probing an overnight fire that claimed the life of a Point Pleasant Borough man.
The man’s identity has yet to be released pending notification of his next of kin, said Al Della Fave, spokesman for the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
The fire was reported at about 2 a.m. on the 1000 block of Ridgefield Drive. Multiple firefighter units fought the fully engulfed structure fire under extremely cold conditions, Della Fave said. Once the fire was extinguished, a male in his mid-60s, who resides alone at the home, was located deceased within the structure.

A full investigation into the cause of the fire began this morning at first light, Della Fave said. More details will be released as they become available.
