A local couple pleaded guilty to violations stemming from a hit-and-run accident that occurred last summer on Route 88 in Point Pleasant Borough, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced late Monday.
Brittany Keifer, 27, of Point Pleasant, and Kyle Ramos, 29, of Seaside Heights, were both charged with separate offenses related to the incident, which occurred Aug. 9. Keifer was the driver, prosecutors say, and Ramos helped her hide the vehicle involved and attempt to repair it so police wouldn’t find out.
Keifer pled guilty to charges of leaving the scene of an accident with serious bodily injury and leaving the scene of an accident. Ramos pled guilty to hindering apprehension. Both defendants are scheduled to be sentenced by Superior Court Judge Therese Cunningham on Feb. 7, 2020

According to prosecutors, Point Pleasant Borough police were called to a report of a hit-and-run incident on Route 88 on Aug. 9. Officers who arrived on scene found a female juvenile riding a bicycle had been struck by a dark colored BMW that fled the scene. The victim suffered serious bodily injuries and was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center.
An investigation by the Point Pleasant Borough Police Department and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Vehicular Homicide Unit determined that Keifer had struck the juvenile with her vehicle and fled the scene. She then contacted Ramos to pick her up at a location several blocks away in Point Pleasant. Ramos assisted Keifer in hiding the vehicle and attempted to have the vehicle repaired “in an effort to hinder the investigation,” a statement said. Keifer turned herself in to law enforcement the following day.
