A Brick man was hospitalized Monday afternoon after police in Lakewood received a report of an unconscious person in a vehicle near the intersection of West County Line Road and Route 9 there, police said.
Officers who arrived at the scene at about 3:30 p.m. found a 36-year-old Brick man, who was not identified, “unconscious and gasping for air” inside a 2004 Saturn, a statement said. It was not clear at the time what caused the medical episode, however police suspect the man may have ingested a drug of some kind.
After the man was taken to Monmouth Medical Center, South Campus, by Lakewood Police EMS, officers arrested the passenger in the Saturn, Lee Weiss, 21, of Jackson, for possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia. She was processed and released at Lakewood police headquarters.
