A panicked, wayward deer caused quite a scene at a Lakewood church Monday morning, police said.
At about 7:50 a.m., Officers Jason Yahr and Matt McAvoy went to the Estonian Lutheran Church located on 7th Street to investigate an entry made into the church’s first floor office by a deer, a statement from the department said.
Upon arrival, a church caretaker informed the officers that a deer had crashed through the office window and then proceeded to “destroy the office.”
By the time the officers arrived, the deer had already left, police said. The officers conducted an investigation anyway and found that the deer may have run into an exterior cinder block wall, causing it to become disoriented prior to crashing through the window.
