A fire at a home in Mantoloking left a family’s dog dead and resulted in injuries for two firefighters.
Fire companies from Mantoloking, Point Pleasant Beach, Bay Head and Brick’s Breton Woods company responded to the 5:30 p.m. blaze at 974 South Lagoon Drive, according to the Mantoloking Office of Emergency Management.
According to a report from the Star-Ledger, the owners of the home were out at the time of the fire, however their dog was there and did not survive. Though the fire was brought under control within minutes of fire crews arriving, one firefighters suffered an ankle injury and another was being treated for shortness of breath.
The fire was still under investigation Friday night, officials said.
