Brick Township schools will open on Monday, Jan. 26, the school district announced Sunday night. At the same time, the district has canceled all after-school programs, activities and meetings for Monday and Tuesday.

A major snowstorm is forecast to move into the Jersey Shore region between Monday and Tuesday.

The district has left open the possibility that school will close early Monday due to the fact that the snowstorm may begin at some point in the afternoon.

“Please make emergency plans for your child to return home, in the event there is an early dismissal,” an alert for the district said. “You will receive notification thru Honeywell on Monday, if we need an early dismissal.”

The district has conceded that school will likely be closed on Tuesday.

“You will receive a Honeywell alert advising you with further information on Monday afternoon. Please ensure you have all your emergency contacts updated in Honeywell. This notice, and all future notices will also be posted on the district website,” the statement said.
