Toms River police arrested two Ocean County men “within hours” of Wednesday morning’s robbery of a Santander Bank branch on Route 37, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said.

Christopher Camargo, 22, of Oakridge Parkway in Toms River and Leonard Larson, 29, of Yardarm Court in Bayville were each charged with robbery.

The two men entered the bank and demanded cash at 9:23 a.m. Wednesday, Stocco said. Camargo is accused of leaping over the teller counter and removed money from the drive through cashier drawer.  No weapon was shown during the robbery.  The pair then fled on foot out of the front door and crossed over Route 37 in a northerly direction.  They continued on foot into the Oak Ridge section of the township, which is a residential area, Stocco said.

The two men were apprehended within hours of the robbery at the home of Camargo, which is a short distance from the bank.  A court authorized search warrant was executed at the residence of Camargo “which recovered evidence of the crime,” said Stocco.

Both men are being held in the Ocean County Jail on $150,000 bail.

Detectives Mark Bajada and Roger Hull were assisted by agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation along with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Office CSI and K-9 units, Stocco said.
