Tia Leach, the Brick resident, was driving her 2000 Volvo on Hooper Avenue near Silver Bay Road when she drifted onto the right shoulder and struck the left rear end of the police vehicle, which was parked on the shoulder of the roadway with its lights on, police spokesman Ralph Stocco said. The police car was parked there because its driver, Patrol Officer Michael Cassady, had just completed a call for service.
After impact the Volvo spun around 180 degrees and came to rest in front of the officer’s car, Stocco said. Neither Cassidy nor Leach were injured in the incident.
