A project that has been in the works for several years to improve the park area at Bay Harbor Beach will get underway soon.
The township council voted unanimously this week to award a $317,121 contract to Albert Marine Construction, of Waretown, to carry out the improvement plan.
According to Council President Paul Mummolo, the work at the site will include dredging, beach nourishment and the construction of a new stone pathway.
Additionally, Mummolo said, the bulkhead at the site now will be demolished and a new bulkhead will be installed along with a breakwater to reduce erosion at the site.
Bay Harbor Beach is located off Bay Way at the southernmost point of mainland Brick Township. The beach is situated along the banks of the south branch of Kettle Creek, which flows to Barnegat Bay
