So much for spring. Forecasters at the National Weather Service were slightly raising their snowfall predictions for Brick Friday as it appears the precipitation won’t change over to rain as earlier predicted.

Brick will receive a total of 1-3 inches of snow during the day Friday and another 1-3 inches overnight, for a total of 2-6 inches. Roadways across town were becoming snow-covered Friday afternoon, though temperatures remained at about 34 degrees, just above freezing. That produced a heavy, wet snow cover that was slushy some areas.

The snow could be heavy at times through Friday evening and into the overnight hours, the National Weather Service said.

The snow may mix with some rain and sleet before 2 a.m. Saturday morning, after which the precipitation is forecast to finally come to an end. Saturday will be mostly cloudy, the National Weather Service said, with a high near 44 and west winds blowing 6-9 m.p.h.
