Crews in Seaside Heights began a marathon day of snow clearing Friday, with workers beginning the task of removing snow from all the streets and sidewalks that line the route of Saturday’s Ocean County St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
Large industrial dump trucks lined up on Broadway as crews in front loaders and Bobcats dumped in snow cleared from the streets. Workers with shovels cleared the sidewalks as police blocked the roadway to keep traffic from interfering.

“The parade is still on,” Chairman Denis Kelly. “The weather will now slow us down.”
Fortunately, the work crews got some help from Mother Nature, as a particularly strong March sun helped melt the remaining snow despite the chilly temperatures.
More sun is on tap for parade day, according to the National Weather Service, which is predicting a high of 39 degrees.
