(Editor’s note: Freedom Boat Club is one of Shorebeat’s newest sponsors. We warmly welcome them to the site (and to town), and invite everyone to learn a bit more about this new business in Brick!

Freedom Boat Club, a concept in boating where members pay a fee for the use of a fleet of boats, has returned to Brick with new owners and new boats after having no presence in town for several years.

The concept is simple: instead of buying a boat, paying for a marina slip, upkeep and other expenses, members pay a fee and have access to Freedom Boat Club’s fleet of fishing, cruising and deck boats, which are docked at Forge Landing Marina off Route 70 in Brick. Moreover, members have access to boats at 85 locations nationwide.

“It has a country club type of feel,” said Theresa Najjar, account executive for the Brick-based club.

Members can reserve a boat online for a time they choose, and when they arrive at the dock, they’re greeted by a staff member who will help unload the car and take items on board.

“They’ll unload your car, load you on the boat, do a little checklist and send you off for the day,” Najjar said.

When a member returns, the staff helps unload items from the boat.

“There’s no cleaning, no maintenance, you don’t even have to gas up the boat,” Najjar said.

Freedom Boat Club offers a variety of memberships and pricing levels, all of which cover boat insurance, Sea Tow service, and even a class to obtain a New Jersey boating safety certificate if required. The only expense members pay in addition to the membership fee is for the fuel used.

Right now, the Brick fleet consists of two Pro Line center console fishing boats, a Hurricane dual console boat, a cruiser and a deck boat.

“As we grow, we add new boats,” Najjar said.

Freedom Boat Club will offer an open house this Saturday with free food, drinks and – of course – boat rides! The grand opening Open House celebration will take place from 12 noon to 4 p.m. at Forge Landing Marina, 799 Route 70, right next to the Riverwatch (formerly Pilot House) restaurant.
