The clouds that rolled in during the day on Sunday will give way to potentially heavy rain and thunderstorms overnight and through Monday, ending late Monday night or in the early morning hours Tuesday.
The rain will begin mainly after 3 a.m. Monday morning, according to a forecast issued by the National Weather Service’s office in Mount Holly. Between a tenth to a quarter inch of rain will fall by sunrise Monday, with showers continuing all day Monday. During the day, rain could be heavy at times and a thunderstorm will be possible. As much as one inch of rain could fall during the day. The high will be 64 degrees.
Monday night, rain and scattered thunderstorms will linger before 2 a.m., at which points clouds will linger until the sun pushes through Tuesday morning.
Tuesday will be sunny with a high of 67 degrees, the NWS said.
