Brick police have issued a motorist a summons after he crashed into a utility pole off Brick Boulevard, near the Drum Point Road intersection Monday night.

The single-vehicle crash occurred at about 8:15 p.m. Monday, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said. The crash brought down a utility pole with power lines collapsing down into a parking lot. The vehicle was identified as a 2004 Jeep that was being operated by Kyle Reinstadlter, whose age was not listed in a statement from police on the accident.

Reinstadlter received minor injuries from the crash and refused medical attention at the scene, Pedersen said.

Officer Jay Nye issued Reinstadlter a summons for failure to maintain lane and operating a motor vehicle while using a cell phone.

Representatives from JCP&L and Verizon responded to the scene to assess the damage to the pole. The vehicle sustained significant front end damage and was towed from the scene, Pedersen said.
