Ocean County is planning to reconstruct a busy intersection in Lakewood.
The county freeholder board has approved a measure soliciting bids for the work planned on East County Line Road at the intersection with Brook Road.
“Both corners are now under massive reconstruction with new developments,” said Frank Scarantino, the county engineer. “We are providing a significant safety improvement for pedestrians.”

The project includes the addition of a left turning lane in all directions as well as the construction of sidewalks. The sidewalks will be funded by Lakewood Township while the rest of the project will be funded by the county, Scarantino said.
“This portion of Lakewood has heavy pedestrian traffic, so it is very much safety-incorporated,” said Scarantino.
The intersection is located north of Ocean County Park.
