The man who was released from jail for robbing a Toms River shoe store – then immediately took a bus to rob the same shoe store again – has been sentenced for the latest crime.
Christopher Miller, 41, was sentenced Friday to 16 years in state prison for second degree robbery, of which he will have to serve 85 percent before being considered for parole. Miller, whose location of residence was never fully known to authorities, pleaded guilty to the March 22, 2014 robbery of the Stride Rite show store in Toms River March 15 of this year.
According to authorities, Miller had been released the previous day from prison after serving a 15 year sentence for a 1999 robbery of the same store. Police said he took a bus from Atlantic City to Toms River and immediately robbed the store again, in the same general manner as he did the first time.

In fact, prosecutors said, the same clerk he robbed in 1999 was working the day of the 2014 robbery and recognized Miller. The clerk had been notified of Miller’s release the day before.
