Ocean County College is invited residents 55 years of age or older to spend time on the college campus, make new friends, enjoy delicious meals, and learn about music, health, poetry, history, and genealogy, plus, see a planetarium show. It’s all part of a three day-long “Staycation” program the college is introducing this summer.
Ocean County College’s Academy for Lifelong Learning will offer Senior Summer Sessions, a three-day mini-vacation, from Tuesday to Thursday, August 11 to August 13, 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the Black Box Theatre, Grunin Center, Building No. 11, on the OCC Main Campus, College Drive in Toms River.
Each day includes Continental breakfast, lunch, and a morning and afternoon session. The three-day event concludes with a Certificate of Completion Ceremony!

- On Tuesday, August 11, the morning presentation, “Secrets to Creating Health at Any age,” will be given by Dr. Dan Cruoglio (chiropractor, Life Adjustments Coaching), and in the afternoon participants will enjoy “Music with the Maestro” presented by Anthony LaGruth (conductor/director of the Garden State Philharmonic).
- On Wednesday, August 12, the morning presentation is “First Ladies & Famous Ladies” with Richard Trimble (professor/author), and in the afternoon learn about “Discovering Your Past by Utilizing Ancestry.com” with Russ Dutcher (genealogist).
- On Thursday, August 13, the morning presentation, “Classic American Poets,” will be given by Jayanti Tamm (assistant professor of English at Ocean County College), and in the afternoon enjoy the show “Dawn of the Space Age” at the Robert J. Novins Planetarium.
