Former Brick township councilman Dan Toth put out a brief statement Wednesday afternoon, calling charges of aggravated criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child filed Tuesday false.
The statement said:
Let me be clear: the charges filed against me are false and baseless. I’ve spent my entire life building my reputation, and I will devote my full energies toward proving my innocence. As such, I have requested that my name be withdrawn from the ballot for Township Council in Brick.
Toth was charged with the offenses after an allegation was made by a 15-year-old boy in Jackson.
Republican party officials have told Shorebeat Toth will be replaced by another candidate on November’s election ballot.
