A 10-year-old girl told Brick police officers over the weekend that two men tried abduct her as she was playing outdoors in the Waterside Gardens apartment complex, with one of the men going so far as to grab her arm before she was able to run away.
The call to police came in at about 9 p.m. Saturday, Capt. Ron Dougard said. The 10 year old female victim, whose name has been withheld, reported to Officer Mike Miller that she was playing hide-and-seek with her friends when two men called over for her to come to them.
“When she refused, they followed her,” said Dougard.

One of the men got close enough to the girl to tell her that if she didn’t go with them, he would force her to go. The man then grabbed her by the arm, but the victim pulled away and fled from the men. The pair then ran in the opposite direction, entered a running minivan and drove away, Dougard said.
The suspects are described as two white males. One was wearing a New York Yankees baseball hat, blue tank top shirt and blue jeans. He was described as having tattoos covering both of his arms, to his wrists. He smelled of alcohol and body odor.
The other suspect was wearing white cargo shorts, a tan shirt and glasses. He was wearing an unknown colored baseball hat. He may have had a tattoo on his right bicep.
The pair drove off in a vehicle that was described as a dirty, blue-colored minivan with silver rims.
Detective Bob Shepherd of the Brick Township Police Department is investigating. Anyone who may have information is being asked to call the police department at 732 262-1100 or Shepherd at 732-262-1121.
