An onshore flow, a coastal storm south of New Jersey and a full moon combined to whip up some rough surf at Barnegat Inlet late Friday afternoon.

A small craft advisory was in effect for the entire New Jersey coast, with 6-9 foot seas forecast through Monday. Winds are forecast to gust to 30 knots – 34 m.p.h. – Saturday and 25 knots Sunday into Monday. A coastal flood advisory was in effect for the time period covering 6 p.m. Saturday to 12 noon Sunday, with the National Weather Service calling for minor inundation of low-lying areas with the potential for some road closures.

Additionally, the National Weather Service said, a high rip current risk was forecast with some beach erosion likely.
