Brick Township honored its crossing guards at a meeting of the township council Tuesday, with Mayor John Ducey declaring Thursday “Crossing Guard Appreciation Day” in the township.
The most prominent role of the township’s crossing guards is helping children get safely to and from school, but they serve additional roles throughout the year.
“They also keep our residents safe when they cross over Route 35 to the beach, and at Christmas season over at Ovation Way,” said Ducey. “They often brave the elements to fulfill their duties.”
