A Brick Township woman suffered a shoulder injury Monday after being hit by a pickup truck being driven by a North Jersey man in the Brick Plaza shopping center.

Barbara Sole, 68, was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune for treatment after she was struck by a Ford F250 pickup truck being driven by Joseph Fedor, 24, of Garfield, Brick police said.

At the time of the 12:40 p.m. accident near the Dollar Tree store, Sole was walking in the travel lane in front of the vehicle as it began to pull out of a parking space, said Sgt. Neal Pedersen.  She was knocked to the ground and was pinned under the truck, ultimately requiring extrication by firefighters.

Brick Police Patrolmen Keith Prendeville and Robert Scelfo were the first responding officers on scene and began to render aid to Sole, Pedersen said. The Pioneer Hose, Breton Woods and Laurelton fire companies responded to extricate Sole from under the vehicle.

Brick Police First Aid and MONOC Paramedics responded to treat Sole.

Pedersen and Ptl. Jay Lampiasi from the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
