The following letter was submitted to Shorebeat in response to a recent campaign mailer that portrayed Republican township council candidates Frank Pannucci, Jr. and Michael Conti in cartoon form, taking aim at their record on the Board of Education.

Shorebeat is a planning a story during the following week that will take a closer look at campaign mailers and literature from both sides of the political aisle in Brick.

To The Editor:

I know it is election time, but I am seriously offended, saddened, and disappointed in the gutter politic tactics that the “Ducey Team” has sunk to in their latest political mailer.

The Ducey team, in a cheap double sided glossy mailer, has cartooned and slandered two of our finest Brick Township young men, Frank Pannucci and Mike Conti.  Both have successfully and proudly grown up in our town, and after college returned to their roots to raise a family and to publicly serve in elected office in order to give back to Brick.

I was initially offended that the “Ducey Team” spitefully cartooned both Frank and Mike; but I was outraged and saddened that they maliciously misrepresented the truth in a cheap attempt to win votes for themselves.  Apparently, they believe that by mocking, that somehow makes them a better choice for public office.

How sad.

I expected our incumbents to recite any accomplishments of the past  4 years in office and provide their vision for the future.   They obviously cannot do this and can only resort to cheap political attacks, lies, and malice.  I can say with absolute conviction that the “Ducey Team” has lost any hope of ever getting my vote.

Mr. “Ducey Team,” I repeat, you have lost my respect and more importantly my vote.
