It largely goes without saying considering the beating Brick’s beaches have taken recently, but the township is not allowing beach buggy access to its beaches this year.

Beach buggy permits allow those with four-wheel drive vehicles – or “beach buggies,” as they are affectionately known – access to drive on the sand during the fall and winter seasons for sport fishing.

Brick has traditionally allowed beach access along the township’s oceanfront but, due to the condition of the beach, the exposure of the recently-completed sea wall project and the potential for more work to begin on a planned beach replenishment project, access was suspended this year.

Township officials say they intend on re-opening beach buggy access to the oceanfront once the beaches are safely replenished.
