Three Injured in Accident at Brick Intersection

An accident Wednesday afternoon at the corner of Drum Point Road and Hooper Avenue in Brick resulted injuries to three people, police said.

According to Brick police, Yvonne Oliver, 66, of Brick was traveling southbound on Hooper Ave approaching Drum Point Road when another vehicle when a vehicle on the opposite side of Hooper – being driven by Anthony Piazza, 68, of Bayville – made a left turn in front of her as she was crossing the intersection.



Oliver was driving a 2013 Nissan Altima and Piazza was driving a 2000 Mercury Sable, police said.

Members of the Pioneer Hose Fire company extricated Piazza and a passenger, Walter Knueppel, 57, of Toms River, from the Mercury.

Oliver suffered a head injury in the crash, while Piazza and Knueppel bother suffered internal injuries. Brick Police EMS transported the victims to Jersey Shore University Medical Center and to Brick Hospital.

Sgt. Neal Pedersen and Ptl. Jay Lampiasi from the Traffic Safety Unit responded to the scene and are conducting the investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
