Two Brick Residents Injured in Herbertsville Road Accident

Brick police say two people were injured when two vehicles collided while crossing Route 70 from opposite directions on Herbertsville Road.

The accident occurred at 6:26 a.m. Saturday, police said.



Sarabjit Kaur, 38, of Brick, was driving a 2005 Hummer H2, which collided with a 2000 Chevrolet Malibu being driven by Maria Compos, 28, of Brick. According to police, Compos, who was traveling south on Herbertsville, turned left in front of Kaur in order to turn onto Route 70.

Herbertsville Fire company responded to extricate the occupants from the Chevrolet. Brick Police First Aid and MONOC paramedics transported two accident victims to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

Compos suffered leg and neck injuries in the crash while her passenger, Joseph Mayo, 24, of Brick, suffered internal injuries. Kaur was not injured.

Sgt. Neal Pedersen and Ptl. Jay Lampiasi from the Brick Police Traffic Safety Unit are investigating.  Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
