Brick Township will now send our community alerts to residents’ mobile phones using Nixle, a service that delivers text messages sent out by towns across the country. The system will alert residents in real-time for localized emergency situations and relevant community advisories.
Any resident who wishes to sign up for the service can text their ZIP code to 888777 from their mobile phone and they will be automatically registered. Once registered, residents will receive a confirmation text to their mobile device. Residents may also customize their alert settings by going to www.nixle.com and creating a User Profile. Residents can customize what alerts they receive and how they receive them such as SMS, email or voice messages.
“This system will allow us to quickly disseminate vital information to residents in times of crisis,” Deputy Police Chief James Riccio said in a statement. “When other means of communication are down we will still be able to reach you through your mobile device.”

Residents can also click on the Nixle tab on the Brick Township website, www.bricktownship.net to register.
“We are proud of our efforts to keep the citizens of Brick Township well informed about their government and what is going on in town. Bringing this service to Brick is a continuation of our efforts,” said Mayor John G. Ducey. “This service will enhance our ability to contact residents especially in times of emergency. I encourage all residents to sign up for these alerts.”
