A 40-year-old Brick man has died after being struck by a car Thursday night on Brick Boulevard, according to township police.
The man’s name is not being released pending notification of his next-of-kin, Sgt. Neal Pedersen said.
The accident occurred at 8:35 p.m. Thursday on Brick Boulevard near the intersection of Chambersbridge Road. The pedestrianwas struck by a vehicle being driven by Helen Walling, 75, of Toms River, who was driving a 1999 Toyota Camry.
Walling had been traveling southbound on Brick Blvd., approaching the intersection of Chambersbridge Road, while the pedestrian was crossing the road a few hundred feet north of the intersection, Pedersen said. The car struck the pedestrian in the middle lane while traveling southbound.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased on scene, Pedersen said.
Pedersen and Ptl. Scott Dierking from the Traffic Safety Unit are investigating. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is being asked to contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 732-262-1140.
