County Teachers of the Year are first selected at the school level through the Governor’s Educator of the Year program. They then go on to compete at the county level and are selected by panels representing a cross-section of administrators, teachers, parents, and county education association representatives convened by the state education department’s executive county superintendents.

“Your students, I’m sure, are very happy to have a teacher of the year, and your students’ parents must also be very proud as well,” said Council President Paul Mummolo.

Bucco was honored by an official mayoral proclamation declaring Nov. 17 as Brittany Bucco Day in Brick Township.

“I couldn’t do it without my students, and of course my colleagues and my family,” Bucco said.
