Brick Township council members have passed a resolution supporting mid-block crosswalks on Route 35, a formality required before the crosswalks are set up on the highway.
The crosswalks, which will enable pedestrians to safely cross in order to get to and from the beach, are part of the highway rebuilding project which is currently in its final stages.
According to township officials, the crosswalks will be installed:
Between the Brick Beach III median parking lot and Brick Beach III.
Between the Brick Beach III median parking lot and Bayside Park.
At Osprey Lane
At Faber Lane
At the intersection of southbound Route 35 and Deauville Drive (Harbour Yacht Club).
“NJDOT has installed curb depressions,” said Council President Paul Mummolo, in order to facilitate handicap access.
The crosswalks will be fully funded by the state, he said.
