A 71-year-old Lakewood woman was killed in a single-vehicle crash Friday morning on Princeton Avenue, Brick police said.
Anne Labrutto, 71, was driving her 2009 Kia Spectra westbound on Princeton when she veered off to the right side of the roadway, hitting the curb, said Sgt. Neal Pedersen. The car then left the roadway, striking a fence, which caused it to overturn onto the driver’s side. The car ultimately came to rest on its side in the westbound shoulder of Princeton Avenue, approximately 50 feet east of the intersection with Navajo Trail.
Labrutto was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
Pedersen said a preliminary investigation has revealed that the Labrutto may have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway.
