Police in Point Pleasant Borough are investigating an incident of child luring that occurred recently, the department said in a statement issued Wednesday.

The incident occurred Oct. 27, when a 15-year-old girl was walking west in the eastbound lane on Herbertsville Road between Riverwood and Hillside Avenues in Point Pleasant Borough. The girl was walking on the opposite side of the road when a white van driven by a white male slowed down and asked if she needed a ride, police said.

After a brief conversation, the van continued west on Herberstville Road toward Brick and left the area.

The man is described as being skinny, between 30 and 40 years of age with short brown hair and brown eyes. The male also had an accent when he spoke, police said.

The van is described as a newer model white van with a driver and passenger side window with no other side windows and two back windows with light window tint. There was green and blue writing on the side of the van.

There may have been a ladder on the roof of the van, but the girl was not sure, police said.
