A fire drew a response from all of Brick Township’s fire companies, as well as the Silverton fire company, on Thanksgiving Day.

The fire, which broke out after 5 p.m., led to the home at 9 Ritchie Court being declared unsafe, said Kevin Batzel, Director of the Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety.

The home had about 14 occupants inside, who were celebrating Thanksgiving, Batzel said. All got out safely. One of the people in the home noticed the fire had started in an upstairs bedroom while they were walking to an outside deck on the second floor, Batzel said. The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
