Fifth graders at Midstreams Elementary School’s Early Act Club recently put together a fun activity to help raise money for a program that assists returning veterans.

The students in Early Act, a service club just for fifth graders, teamed up with the Junior Auxiliary Unit of Brick American Legion Post No. 348 to organize Holiday Hat Day at their school. In exchange for being able to wear Santa Claus and other holiday themed hats, students paid a few dollars that were donated to VetWork, a non-profit organization located in Ocean County.

VetWork is dedicated to assisting honorably discharged veterans in coming home, getting situated, receiving financial, social, and medical aid, and readjusting to to domestic life in the U.S., organizers from the American Legion post said.
