Two new Brick council members were sworn into office Jan. 1, while two more took the oath of office to return to their seats for new terms.
New council members Arthur Halloran and Lisa Crate were each sworn into full terms on the governing body, as were returning council members Andrea Zapcic and Jim Fozman.
“I really am looking forward to serving you, and doing everything I can to make this town the best it can be,” said Crate, complimenting the current mayor and council members for making Brick “the best town in Ocean County.”

“I thank you for having the faith in my abilities to represent the people of Brick Township,” said Halloran.
Councilman Paul Mummolo, who served as council president in 2015, will continue in the same post this year.
“Paul Mummolo has shown the skills and the ability to lead, and now he has the expertise from his experience of serving as council president for the past year,” said Councilwoman Marianna Pontoriero, who nominated Mummolo. “We will thrive and flourish under his command.”
Pontoriero, for her part, was nominated by Councilwoman Health deJong to serve as council vice-president and voted into the office unanimously.
Maor John Ducey said goals for 2016 include keeping spending under wraps and continuing to reduce debt, renovating Bayside Park and Bernie Cook Park, as well as expanding the township’s fledgling Neighborhood Watch program.
