Brick police were able to locate a juvenile who displayed a knife during an incident involving two groups of people in Herbertsville Park (formerly known as Colorado Park).

The incident, during which officers were called to a reported assault, occurred Sunday at 2:21 p.m., according to Sgt. Neal Pedersen.

Officers Mark Storch and Jennifer Larocca located the combatants at the park and were able to determine that a juvenile male from Sawmill Road had displayed a weapon, later identified as a knife, during the encounter, Pedersen said.

The altercation took place in the park between two groups of people, Pedersen said, at which time the 14-year-old juvenile male pulled the knife on a 15-year-old female.

“It was reported to officers that this was an ongoing dispute stemming from earlier interactions that took place a day earlier,” Pedersen said.

Officers were able to locate the juvenile suspect and the weapon that is described as a folding knife.

The juvenile was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.  No injuries were reported during this incident.  The name of the juvenile and an arrest photo were not released due to his age.

The juvenile was released to his parents on juvenile complaints, police said.  Anyone with additional information about the incident is being asked to contact Detective Ken Steinberg at 732-262-1113.
