Brick officials marked the upcoming National Library Week – April 10-16 – with a proclamation given to Brick Library Branch Manager Susan Gardiner Tuesday night.
“I’m very honored that we have been serving the Brick community for 50 years,” Gardiner said, explaining how the library has evolved over the last century from simply a place to borrow books to hosting a full range of children’s and adult programs and acting as a center of the community.
“There are still books there as the heart of the library, but there is so much more that is offered as we move forward to the future,” said Gardiner, mentioning activities from job seeker resources to computer technology classes.

In related library news, the Brick branch will host a “Books, Bags, Bling & Bake Sale,” Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the meeting room of the library.
“Just in time for Mother’s Day,” the sale will include: new or gently used books for children and adult; gently used purses and wallets; costume jewelry, bracelets, pins, earrings, chains and necklaces and baked goods such as cookies, pies, cakes, muffins, and more.
“Come and shop for a good cause,” Gardiner said in an e-mail.
